Our trip out was exciting. Beck is used to the airport being a place where he drops off one parent or another and then goes home. He loved going inside so much that he took off running from security without his shoes, his backpack, or mom and dad. He was super cute carrying his own backpack, which he loaded himself with only the best toys and stories. Note to parents everywhere: if you can trick your kid into thinking it's fun to carry his own things, your life will be SPLENDIDLY EASY!!!!
The plane ride was especially fun for monkey

Our first day in town both Rob and Emmy had to work so we took off on our own exploring the grand city of Tulsa. It seems like a really nice city to live in, but be warned: The streets are all EXTREMELY narrow! We had a tough enough time driving around an unfamiliar SUV, but Brooke nearly rolled multiple times while hitting the curb in her duel-wheel pick-up truck!
After eating fried pickles and mushrooms we found a beautiful park to run around in. It was nice spending time together outdoors-I'd pretty much written off having that happen again until sometime next spring!

The rest of the weekend we pretty much spent apart. Brooke's craft show was three days-long, slow, frustrating days. She had the most theft she's had at any show and barely made enough to cover her expenses. The two of us getting together is always fun and a little-out-of-control, but by the end of this show we both just wanted to go home. It was a good thing Ben and Beck were having a much better time than we were...
They went to the aquarium and saw sea otters eating goldfish (a little traumatic for Beck) as well sharks and scuba divers swimming overhead. They went to the river to check out the bike trail and riverside parks, and while the grown-ups watched the BYU game, Beck got to play with the most impressive train tracks his eyes had ever seen!

It was nice to all come back together at the end of the day. We had fun meeting Rob and Emmy's friends and Emmy's family. Ben, of course, had fun sharing his nighttime croquet prowess. Although freezing, the swimming at Brooke's hotel was exhilarating. And, it was really nice to curl up next to the big picture window for storytime with my little baby Beck.
All the good and all the bad mashed together, we had a pretty fantastic autumn vacation!
